REMS / EchoLight Bone Density Assessment

A radiation-free way to get a picture of your bone density, right here at our Juno Beach center.

What Is REMS?

REMS (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry) is an ultrasound-based bone density assessment technology, made by EchoLight. Unlike a traditional DXA scan, REMS uses no ionizing radiation. It is a diagnostic tool used by qualified providers, not a treatment β€” think of it as a way to get a clearer picture of your bone health, not a way to change it.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

The assessment itself is quick and comfortable β€” no undressing, no radiation, and no needles. A trained team member positions the device over the hip and/or spine while you relax; most appointments take just a few minutes of actual scan time. Afterward, you’ll receive your results, which we recommend reviewing with your physician as part of your overall care.

Is This Right for You?

A REMS assessment can be a useful starting point if you’re curious about your bone density, or a helpful complement if you already work with a doctor on bone health. It is not a substitute for medical advice, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition. If you have osteopenia, osteoporosis, or another bone health concern, please talk with your healthcare provider about whether this assessment is appropriate for you.
